About Us

MISSION

The Community String Orchestra of the Adirondacks is a non-profit organization for musicians and by musicians of all ages and abilities.  Our work strives to bring string musicians together and to bring string music to the local communities of the northern Adirondack region.

HISTORY

Our community orchestra was founded by Esther Rogers Baker in October, 2017.

ESTHER ROGERS BAKER

Esther Rogers Baker is a strings teacher in Keene Central School and offers private instruction to musicians throughout the North Country.

Esther is a classically trained cellist who plays experimental and contemporary music, has a passion for Bach and traditional chamber music, and enjoys improvising with musicians and artists from different backgrounds and genres. In addition to traditional performance, Esther is an innovative leader who asks questions about process, intent, and progress.

SUPPORT

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide
Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New
York Council on the Arts with support of the Office of the Gover-
nor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the
ADK Lake Center of the Arts.
Funding for our 2024 orchestral program was also made possible, in part, by the Essex County Arts Council Cultural Assistance Program Grant
(supported by the Essex County Board of Supervisors), The
Cloudsplitter Foundation, the Lake Placid Institute for the Arts and Humanities, and
the Rotary Club of Lake Placid.
Their commitment and dedication give the Arts in the Adirondacks the opportunity to flourish.
We are truly thankful for the support we receive through our Tri-Lakes communities!
